Student PSR Organizes
Seminar
SPSR
is sponsoring the 2nd annual Midwest Peace and Justice Seminar in Indianapolis, Indiana, US
in April
7-9, 2006. The seminar will have a variety of workshops ranging from
human
rights to environmental issues. Besides NWIP (Nuclear Weapons
Inheritance
Project) is expected to provide dialogue trainings.
Not
only the medical students and faculty but anyone interested are welcome
to
participate. Target Indianapolis
installment is another attraction.

Register for World
Congress in
Helsinki 2006!
The
deadline to register for the upcoming World Congress at Helsinki is
approaching fast. The World
Congress is the unique opportunity to know about the peace and
disarmament
activities going on in the world and know about the views and
perspectives on
peace works and disarmament.
Besides,
you could meet many doctors, medical students and peace activists from
around
the world. And, off course you probably don’t want to miss the
opportunity to
visit the beautiful city of Helsinki,

Latin American students
to meet in El
Salvador
The
Latin American students of IPPNW are meeting this October in El Salvador.
This has been a
positive development after our regional representative of South America
Ademar
Guardado took an extensive trip to the Central
America.
This
will be a great opportunity to learn about the issues of health, peace
and
disarmament in Latin America and in
the world.

The 20 years of Chernobyl
disaster
The
German affiliate of IPPNW is organizing a conference in Bonn, Germany
on the occasion of
20th year of Chernobyl
accident in 1986. The conference is scheduled for April 7 - 9 and
themed
"Nuclear Time Bomb - 20 Years after Chernobyl".
The
aim of this conference, which will include Russian and Ukrainian
scientists,
doctors and witnesses as well as countless experts form all over the
world,
will be to make the connection between the horrible events of April
1986 and
the current renaissance of nuclear energy in 2006. Concrete
alternatives to
nuclear energy will be presented and ways of encouraging
politicians not
to give in to the pressure of the nuclear industries will be discussed.

interesting for

Similar
event is being organized in London
on the same occasion. The even is scheduled for April 22 and the theme
is
"Anniversary of Chernobyl - The Health and Environmental Legacy".
European students to meet
in Italy
European
medical students are meeting this May 11-14 in the famous port city of Napoli in Italy.
The occasion is the IPPNW conference of European medical students which
is
themed "What one person can change". The conference will focus on the
issues of Nuclear Weapons in Europe, the future of Nuclear Energy, the
Health
of Refugees and Peace in the Middle East.
An
installation of Target Napoli, a presentation of Jewish and Arab
students
from Jerusalem
involved with social and peace related programs as well some workshops
of
Italian medical NGO's like Emergency or MSF will offer students some
examples
of how to live social responsibility as medical students and doctors.

South American Student
Rep Tours Central America
The
regional student representative of IPPNW for South Asia region, Ademar
Guardado
has recently taken an extensive trip around Central
America. During the trip he promoted IPPNW and its mission
amongst
medical students in Nicaragua,
Costa Rica
and Panama.
His
trip has helped to spread the message of peace in the Central America and he has been able to build on
the idea of organizing
South American students' conference this October. The details of the
