    The abbreviation "IPPNW" stands for International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.

    IPPNW is a non-partisan, global federation of national medical organizations in 58 countries dedicated to research, education, and advocacy relevant to the prevention of nuclear war, the demilitarization of the world and the paradigm shift needed to create a climate of peace and stability.

    • 1984: IPPNW received the UNESCO-Peace Prize
    • 1985: IPPNW received the Nobel Peace Prize
